I should probably also mention that if you use the same password on any other sites you might want to change those as well. Hackers have a habit of trying email/password combinations wherever they can.

Hi all,

My web host advised that the site may have been hacked. I've cleared up the back end but I suggest that you all change your passwords asap. I've deleted a lot of stuff for unused themes and a couple of files that may affect the current theme so please let me know if you spot any issues with the site.

Stumbled across this fascinating story and thought you chaps might find it interesting. Not sure I'd like to give it a go though!

Thanks Bounder! An interesting read and I'm glad the pilot made it out, if not uninjured at least alive and able to fly again before long.

Hi Chris,

As it seems you are already flying with the chaps on SAS and getting on well, I've given you full access to the forum.

I just use mouse and keyboard, though sort of luckily my mouse broke and I had to get a new one so I got one with enough buttons to have lots of spares for weapon groups.

We play as Inner Sphere (House Steiner) Though to be honest we play mostly on quick play so it's not that important. IS is a bit disadvantaged at the moment, mainly due to the mixed nature of quick play. The Clanners like to stand off and snipe so they don't get their nice paint jobs scratched, whilst IS is better up close. This is likely to change soon with the teach jump (in game time is moving forward 10 years and the IS in particular are getting some great new weapons).

At the moment we tend to play most evenings at around 8-9pm gmt (I'm off this week so am a bit more flexible). You'll have to let us know what your playstyle is so we can assist in selecting some mechs and loadouts for you.

Hi Conky,

It is entirely possible to play MWO happily without spending a penny. There are some issues long term in that to buy new mechs (with in game currency) you need mechbays that cost Mech Credits (bought for real money). You do get some mech bays when you start, you can earn quite a few in game and there are frequent events when you can win them.

At the moment, you need 3 of each mech to master them, but this system is changing at the end of the month I believe so that you only need one of each mech as they will be skilled up individually. Most mechs can be bought win in game currency but there are a handful that can only be bought with MC or cash. They tend to be the newer mechs.

But every mech has it's place on the field! You can happily play with only in game currency mechs and all mech equipment is in game currency only.

Moving to gameplay, it is a shock to the system after IL2 or normal FPS games. I dare say tank sims would be best placed to warm you up for it. The first trick is learning to move and look in different directions as the upper body of the mech is effectively a turret (with the arms being a turret on a turret!)

There is also the learning curve for each level of mech and their roles as well as those that cross over two roles. Light, Medium, Heavy and Assault in short as you go from Light to Assault you get more armour and weapons but lose speed and agility. A light mech can take down a lone assault as it simply cant turn fast enough to target or hit the light mech!

In short, it's tricky but it's free to play so worth a try. If you don't like it nothing lost and if you do then great.

Heard flying into an airport one night when the only available runway was the shortest one at the airfield.

Female Tower Controller: “Delta 324 do you have runway 34 in sight?”

Delta 324: “Roger we have the runway in sight.”

(Not realizing his microphone was stuck “My d**k is longer than that runway”

Female Tower Controller: “Delta 324 you’re cleared to land Runway 34. I get off at 10pm.”

Hi Mark,

Things have been a bit quiet recently but many of the chaps are still flying. I'm afraid I'm out with a busted HOTAS at the moment but it doesn't tend to take much to get a few people in the air.

Just pop a post in the forum, the normal nights of Tuesday, Thursday and Sunday are probably your best bet, but you might get a flight any time.
