Hi Paladin,

I have sucessfully installed it over 4.12.2 with no issues, but it would be definately worth making a backup copy of your original install just in case you have any problems!

And Welcome back!

pip pip,

Fitz

Thanks fitz...evrything seems to be up and functional.

Indeed sir; we often have a presence on the SAS server as can be seen here on the stats page http://sas1946.rocks/up3test/index.php
with Mak, Conky and myself reaching the dizzy heights of the upper echelons after a number of cads and bounders were summarily dealt with for cheating recently. I don't have the TS address though.
Missions on the server are random running 24/7 but with some gurly-man switches on such as plane icons, map icons and externals (not sure if padlock is enabled). These vary from turkey shoots for the stat whores through to really tough prangs if numbers are low usually created by mission builders from our own stable.
I have to 'fly' at non-peak  hours due to bollocks internet here, but the busiest time is Sunday 14:00 GMT onwards with recently 15 players, many from FAC with a smattering of Chuffers.
Believe some of our chaps get together on our own server Sunday 19:00 GMT if sufficient numbers or join the fun on the SAS server.

Hello BalDaddy

I got all the bits reinstalled patched and so forth and gave it all a sucessfull test this evening on the SAS server. Was good to see that old Wilkins hadn't scraped my trusty old Beaufighter,it was however rather mildewed and had an assortment of critters living in. Should be up and about bye the weekend hopefully, still have some work to do with controls and the like.

I have been flying since I left but its all been with FSX so I am more then a little rusty. Will see you fella's as soon as possible.

Squadron Recruitment / Hello Chaps

It has been a while since last I was here. So long in fact I couldn't remember who exactly I was when last I flew with you folks. Here at late I have found myself missing bashing about the sky trying not to get my arse shot down and am considering reinstalling IL2 sturmovic. 1946. So the big question is are you charectors still playing it ? when last I was here everybody was planning to switch over to Cliffs of Dover ( I heard that was a bit of a stinker ) which my poor old system wasn't going to cope with and do you still have a place for another disagreeable yank.

Technical support / Re: Optimising router for IL-2

Best router set up that I am aware of is to unplug said device and place in the cylindrical object usually located to your right on the floor ( if right handed ) being careful to cover same with bits of paper and any unnecessary plastic objects available to you. This method does require that you disavow any knowledge of why the Internet doesn't function any where else in the house. When replying to inquiries the phrases such "The dog must have eaten the cable"  or you have been forced to limit use elsewhere in the house to prevent your youngest from downloading porn are frequently useful.  ;D

Use care for what you wish for...retirement is grand but can be fraught with pitfalls. As in my case this past week when Mrs Paladin decided that WE need to repaint the master bedroom and bath the WE in this case a strange non-plural use of the word that I have encountered more then a few times in the past.

Father Ted

If memory serves me that realy wasn't the worst of the USL missions . Seems we did  better when the other chaps had to fly the Russian kites......not much better mind but better all the same. There was of course the match where Caverat was shot down 3 times....all of them bye us his loyal squadron mates. If not mistaken it was all the kills we got in that prang. Silly bugger had established his own personal tactical plan and kept going off bye himself to stooge about the French coast only to get bounced bye one or more of the rest of us. When flying as German Hammer and I ( HRD had gotten lost again !!) slithered across the channel at wave height like the naughty men that we were following my super secret plan for a surprise bomber attack only to find everybody and there pet pig Ralph waiting for us over the target area....seems it wasn't such a big surprise after all. I can't remember how the fighter chaps fared in that one as I was entirely to busy getting large bits shot off my Heinkel to really care much. Seems to me there were two more equally dismal matched flown.

All in all the USL was the true test of the Patients of one Badgerton Smedly who I might add passed the test with flying colors....they were grim days .

Fear not!!!!   as long as I am in the server flying a fighter you will never have to be concerned about sucking as it were. My claim to fame while flying a fighter is the ability to come up with new and inventive ways to be shoot down or crash. These chaps are all good sports and at no time has anyone made a comment about my some what dubious flying skills. They may giggle like fiends to themselves but never a discouraging word has been heard. As for this thing with mankinis .....it seems fighter command supplied athletic supporters to all flight crew but unfortunately failed to provide installation instructions. Woof and Gizmos application of said garment were actually not nearly as amusing as Bounders belief it was intended to be worn in such a way as to prevent chafing under his oxygen mask.

Conky:     I thought you said Bluedog wore a ball cap lined with aluminum foil to keep aliens and the government from reading his mind ??? or is that his Sunday go-to-meeting hat ?

Welcome aboard Zoltan

This bunch of rubes has an uncanny knack for enjoying themselves which you will be hard pressed to find in any other squadron. I think you have made an excellent choice.

I have to admit that I am in a wait and see mode. I will be purchasing CoD to take part in squadron activities probably sooner then later. To me this definitely looks like a fighter pilot related title at least from the red point of view and we all know that with my fighter skills it won't be one of my better options. However looking on the bright side I will get the opportunity to examine the new and improved terrain modeling on a much more regular basis then the rest of you lot. Although its been said that there are many improvements in CoD over the current title and new theaters forthcoming at some point ,I still find it as a step backwards ...at least at initial release. My reasoning with that is a single map and a very limited plane set and the question of how many ways can we fight the Battle of Britain that we haven't already done......Just my opinion.

Greetings Wynthorpe

I am Chuffy's resident disagreeable yank. There are however a couple of chaps about from across the pond who are rather decent fellows. The key to survival here is learning to live with Banana sandwiches 3 nights a week in the officers mess. Why Banana sandwiches 3 nights a week ?? .....well there Palmtree's favorite and Palmtree is matrons favorite. If the truth were to be known Palmerston pinched a rather lurid photo of matron with a donkey from Caverat after the latter disappeared over France and has been using it to good affect ever since.

ALWAYS carefully check inside your flying boots before putting them on.

Technical support / Re: TracIR issues.
February 12, 2011, 05:05:39 PM
Thanks Chaps.
Actually I went in and altered the acceleration curves until I found something I could live with. Still retains a little of 6dof's advantages. The long term cure is going to be a trip to the eye doc to get a single magnification pair of glass's made matching the middle magnification area of my current pair of trifocals.

Technical support / TracIR issues.
February 11, 2011, 03:25:27 PM
Chaps.

I could use a little input with an on-going battle with TracIR. First of all this is TracIR4 updated to the latest version with the vector expansion using the special antler with three reflective surfaces. If running IL2 4.10 in stock form it works very well . When running IL2 with the UP 2.01 mod active it will not work at all unless the Warbirds of Prey mod or one of the 6Dof exe's are active. I realize that 6Dof is all the rage but it doesn't suit me or my trifocals at least at this point in time. I was surprised it works at all as I had the apparently mistaken impression that it wouldn't work with the older versions of tracIr. So the question is have any of you chaps run into problems getting the older TracIR to work with UP 2.01 ?...I would love to do away with the 6dof for the time being at least.

Mission Building / Re: MDS Nightfighter missions
February 06, 2011, 03:10:15 PM
From what I have been reading radar wasn't ready for 4.10 but should be for 4.101 and would probably be worth while to wait until then to build a campaign around the idea. How they chose to implement it and which aircraft will have it will be the big question marks.Hopefully at least the Mossie's,Beau's and A20's (as a stand in for the Wellington) for our side and the 110's and 88's for the Hun will have it available as far as stock aircraft are concerned. In reality I think this mission type would work best against human opponents.
