I'm sure I spent money on a "Founder's Edition" of this game a few years ago, if there was ever such a thing? I'll have to check.

Wow Fitz, just logged on to find a very modern feel to your boards. What forum software are you using? The reason I ask is that I've just created a work in progress board myself using MyBB.

Tell them you are an Ace, the best of the best, last man standing, leaving no man behind. That CV right there, will guarantee you a job for life.

Good luck to the both of you!

BTW - Battlefield come Star Wars. With DICE involved they shouldn't go far wrong, just hope they don't dumb it down too much in the transition from console to PC.

That's quite alright. At least the joker didn't get very far.  ;) I was already happy to be flying with others rather than AIs for a change.

Absolutely, to communicate and fly with fellow like minded souls sure beats co-operating with HAL 9000 and his merry men.

Just for info - even the DVD version installs into Steam. Didn't come across any issues installing TF patches.

New WWI sim in development.

http://riseofflight.com/Forum/viewtopic.php?t=41772&sid=c51d55be7496974340100424f221debc

Dear Pilots,

We are proud to announce that the 1CGS development team has recently begun work on ILYA MUROMETS, a new standalone flight-sim in cooperation with the Russian Military Historical Society. It will cover a little explored part of the WWI air war â€" the Eastern Front. Ilya Muromets will feature the gigantic and legendary four-engine bomber of the same name which saw action on the Eastern Front in service of the Imperial Russian Air Force. This plane can be considered the genesis of the multi-engine long-range strategic bombers of later conflicts.

More info can be found on the Ilya Muromets website and in the discussion forum.

Have you installed any programs / drivers or changed / fiddled with any hardware recently? Sounds like an instability problem ranging from what Bd suggested - PSU, RAM other hardware etc to software issues.

From a software point of view you could try disabling all unnecessary services and booting into Win again. If that works you could then try enabling a service one by one until you find the culprit. This is done as follows:

In safe mode - click the start win button and type within the text box without quotes "msconfig"

Select the "startup" tab > "disable all" > "apply" > "boot" tab > uncheck "safeboot" > apply > OK > restart machine.

If Win loads successfully and is stable, do the same as above but instead check the first service (so it loads that one only) > apply > OK

Restart machine.

Keep enabling services one by one until the last one that you enable, causes the instability. Once you have located that unstable service either disable it or uninstall it.

Hardware wise, try this:

Remove all peripherals with the exception of your mouse and keyboard plus monitor. Remove all components within your machine with the exception of CPU, PSU, graphics card and ONE stick of RAM. Try and boot normally. If all good add one more stick of RAM (if you have multiple) and restart. Continue until all RAM is installed and Win remains stable. Then start systematically adding your sound card, peripherals etc one by one until Win becomes unstable.

If your PC is still unstable with only one stick of RAM, swap it out for another and reboot. Dodgy RAM can cause all sorts of different symptoms, especially stability.

Another one is to remove and reseat your graphics card and RAM, if not fully home these can cause major headaches.

Ensure your PC is free from dust and other debris. Plus make sure your CPU, GFX and MB fans are functioning correctly.

If none of the above works and your PC still suffers boot issues, then it is likely another hardware problem such as your PSU is at fault, like Bd suggested.

Good Luck 'Ol Chap!

Great stuff gents, love hearing these tales of yesteryear. ;)

BTW Bluey, the current issue of PC Pilot has an article / review of Just Flight's Canberra PR9 aircraft for FSX / Prepar3D. Pretty impressive addon from what I've read. Not sure how modern these are in comparison to the ones you experienced though?

Keep it coming chaps!
