Interested to hear how you find it compares with BOS.   I've just installed BOS and at first look-see am not all that impressed.

But it's early days.   Hopefully when I start to explore further than the quick launch section I'll get more out of it.

And I will tell the Admiral ;D

Ted, me old china, I can't get TIR up and running in game.   Can't find anything in control settings that vaguely resembles TIR.  Ideas?

Not much point iasking Conky.   He'd just give a devil-may-care 'muhahahahahahah' and call me a big girl's blouse.

Got.   Now to go through the nausea of setting it all up!

Is there the facility to print out the default key settings for aircraft/engine etc to give me something to refer to when configuring my controller buttons/switches; and as a reference for in-game?

Sorta mentioned it on another forum topic but need further info.

As far as I can ascertain there are three methods of purchasing this sim:

1.  Steam,

2.   IL2 BOS website and,

3.   getting a hard copy on disk from somewhere (early 2015 for Oz).

I believe that if I get it on Steam the sim will be updated automatically - which seems to be an advantage.   But is there any disadvantage with gameplay or how I join up with a server?  For example, if Chuffys goes BOS and Fitz or FT run a session on their server, can I still join through Steam (somehow)?  How does it affect me if I want to join a BOS server on Hyperlobby (when and if HL puts up a BOS selection to connect to).   (Regretably, this shows the BlueDog's lack of understanding of how Steam works.)

Is there any advantage in going for option 2 over option 1?

Is there any advantage in having my own DVD (option 3)?

And you could get it in any colour, as long as it's black.

Bush Pilots Tales / Re: Ah, Memories (sigh)

Long ago, in the days when the Viet Cong were tunneling their way under South Vietnam and hauling goodies along the Ho Chi Minh trail,  Bluey was piloting his mighty C130A back to Oz after delivering much needed warfare-waging gear to Vung Tau airbase.   The flight from Butterworth in Malaysia to Darwin took about 8 hours; so after arriving in this tropical clime and working our way through customs etc we were keen to breast the bar for a cold ale or two.

So, into the shower for a quick rub-a-dub, then (as was my wont), towel slung low around my sensual hips exposing trim waist and gloriously sculptured abs; (much to the envy of passing male officers, and with female officers falling pregnant simply by glancing at my oh so erotic torso), I started back to my room.   Ooops, forgot the soap - so, back to the shower block.   Almost there and I note a chap scurrying furtively from the block, avoiding eye contact with all concerned.   Shrugging my massive shoulders I walk into the block and ............ my soap had GONE!

My Nav and co-pilot were at the bar when I arrived and this incident gave me about 30 seconds of fame:

Bluey:  "Some bugger stole my soap"
Nav:   "So what, it's only soap"
Bluey:   "But it's one I bought at the USAF PX.  It's a bit special"
Nav:  "So what, it's still only soap"

Next morning on the way to breakfast in the company of my co-pilot I notice the furtive thieving chap disappearing into the shower block.   Grabbing co-pilot by the arm I say "C'mon, follow me.   Just take my cue and say what the nav said" and head for the block.

Inside I say in a rather loud voice:

Bluey:   "Some bugger stole my soap from here yesterday arvo"
Co-pilot:   "So what, it's only soap"
Bluey:   "Yes, but it's the special soap the medical officer gave me for my syphilis"

Co-pilot and I proceeded to breakfast.   On the return I peeked into the shower block and my soap was BACK!

True story.   OK I might have exaggerated about the shoulders.

Technical support / HSFX Auto Updater

Blundered through downloading and installing HSFX 7.02 onto 1946 4.12.2.   Now I see on the 242 SQN website that I need an update to 7.03; but this can only be done through their Auto Updater program.

Have downloaded this, and started the install but it won't complete the installation and gives me the following message:

"Setup has detected that this computer does not meet the requirements to install this software.   The following blocking issues must be resolved before you can instal Microsoft Visual C++ x86 Redistributable setup software package."

To be resolved:

"A newer version of Microsoft Visual C++ x86 Redistributable  has been detected on the machine".

I have found an MV C++ 2013 in programs - whatever that means or does (oer doesn't).

No idea what this is all about or how to resolve it; and for one reason or another I can't log into the 242 Squadron forum to ask there.

So, I'm asking all you clever chappies......... :-*
