Hi Glue (good nickname by the way)unfortunately there could be several reasons why you can't connect to the the server:

Firstly, this is the address you type into the box in the game in join multiplayer: sas1946.rocks:21010

Secondly you have to be running the correct version of IL2 1946.  The SAS server is running a modded version of the game called Ultrapack 3 Release Candidate 4 (UP3 RC4).  I'm afraid this is probably the problem.  You will need to patch your version of IL2 1946 to 4.10.1.  See here http://www.sas1946.com/main/index.php/topic,8528.0.html (http://www.sas1946.com/main/index.php/topic,8528.0.html) for how to do this.  Then you will need  to change it to UP3RC4, see here:http://www.sas1946.com/main/index.php/topic,23452.0.html (http://www.sas1946.com/main/index.php/topic,23452.0.html).

Before doing this it would be sensible to make a back up copy of your current version of IL2 1946.

Let me know how you get on and I (or someone cleverer) will try to help

I think you can install UP3 "over" 4.12, but like I said, make a back up of your working copy before trying anything,

Are you able to make another 4.10 installation? While UP3 may work in later versions, for online compatibility 4.10 would be best.

Our old friend Gubi at FAC posted on the SAS forum how to create a separate installation of IL-2 4.12 and then install UP3 RC4 over the top.

I have not tried it, but provided you make a separate copy of your IL-2 4.12 and give it another name as in Gubi's instructions you should be fine.

See Gubi's post here:-

Good luck.

Hi Glue,

I noticed two black smoke trails coming from your aircraft during the last fight. This means your mixture was too rich, you need to lean the mixture to 80% above 3000m and 60% above 5000m. The Yak-1 also has a supercharger which you need to select (stage 2) at about 2500m. I know, it's a lot to remember but Russian aircraft are pretty user-unfriendly, as they were in real life.

By the way, you have to adjust mixture and supercharger settings with the F4F and FM-2 in order to get maximum performance at altitude.

Yes in deed, i fogoten to decrease mixture, i usualy use above 3000 meters 40% ,

after you left, i entered once more for testing setings, and i was able to reach with the right mihture 460 k\h at 3700..

thank you ..

i'll rather fly an lagg , its more faster and it's somewhat an better energy fighter..

Apologies for not welcoming you earlier to this happy band Glue; see you have taken the plunge on the SAS Server, hope to see you there some time.
There are a few cpuntrymen of yours on the server; including the top gun Gerula, though he lives in the U.S.
I presume you have seen that on the stats page; if not link here:

i've got a nifty joke for you chaps!

Pierre, a brave French fighter pilot, takes his girlfriend, Marie, out on
a pleasant little picnic by the River Seine. It's a beautiful day and love is in the air.
Marie leans over to Pierre and says: "Pierre, kiss me!"
Our hero grabs a bottle of Merlot and splashes it on Marie's lips.
"What are you doing, Pierre?" says the startled Marie.
"I am Pierre, the fighter pilot! When I have red meat, I like to have red wine!"
She smiles and they start kissing.
When things began to heat up a little, Marie says, "Pierre, kiss me lower."
Our hero tears her blouse open, grabs a bottle of Chardonnay and starts pouring it all over her breasts.
"Pierre! What are you doing?" asks the bewildered Marie.
"I am Pierre, the fighter pilot! When I have white meat, I like to have white wine!"
They resume their passionate interlude and things really steam up.
Marie leans close to his ear and whispers, "Pierre, kiss me lower!"
Our hero rips off her underwear, grabs a bottle of Cognac and pours it in her lap. He then strikes a match and lights it on fire.
Marie shrieks and dives into the river. Standing waist deep, Marie throws her arms upwards and screams furiously, "PIERRE, WHAT IN THE HELL DO YOU THINK YOU'RE DOING?"
Our hero stands up, defiantly, and says, "I am Pierre, the fighter pilot! When I go down, I go down in flames!"

Hi glue,

It looks like I may be away Saturday as well now  >:(

Damn life getting in the way again...

If here isn't anyone from CFC on ts, you can always try the FAC tea speak serveras there usually are players logged in on Saturday. The details escape me at the moment but they are posted on the SAS server.

Hi Glue,

Sorry I'm still out due to a busted joystick. If I don't get made redundant shortly I'll invest in a new one and get airborne again asap.

As Conky has said the squad we often fly with [FAC] are on very often. I'm afriad I don't have their server details to hand so could someone post them for glue please?

pip pip,

Fitz

Hi there :)

Regarding any questions about the SAS Server, I can recommend this Board over at SAS: http://www.sas1946.com/main/index.php/board,237.0.html

Regarding the FAC.. We usually start grouping up on the Server on Sundays at 3 PM GMT .. normally there are 7-10 people around, sometimes even more .. TS Details can be found on the message loop on the Server

Best Regards,
skylla

debris....
Title: Re: Hi Chaps..
Post by: John Cartwright on July 08, 2015, 09:03:21 AM
Yes, was good fun (apart from the interruption due to mischievous puppy action) though we both had bad luck colliding with debris! My problem is I get to close too ensure I hit the bugger due to my terrible gunnery. Did you have any luck sorting out the Re-arm, Repair, Refuel facility?

You mentioned the mission we were on was 'too arcade' for you. I agree, and there are certain missions in the cycle I avoid which just seem to have a stately procession of targets across the map taking little aggressive or evasive action. (For example, the FAC Westfront missions)
If you want more of a challenge and can pick your time to play, try any of the BoB or Pacific missions as they come up.
Shame I missed Woof last night.

concerning the misions form bob or paciffic, i'm on from 4 pm gmt to 8 pm gmt ..
at 4 pm i return from work , and do things in the house. .

you set a time and day and i will be on..

a question,: " Re-arm, Repair, Refuel" i have to park in a specific area of the airfield?

and about targeting. i prefer deflecting from above or below, from any other positions, i shoot ultra short bursts...

in SAS server i fly a dark blue 109  usualy

diving to work.... :P

Fixed it, you needed to add (http://) tags at the beggining and end of the link, but the picture is a bit big so if you can crop smaller that would be great.

Hi Glue!

Good to fly with you today, I had no idea you had hooked up with THIS bunch...

The SAS rocks address obviously works, but that server is also accessible though  Hyperlobby, and SAS encourages all to join through there if possible. it only indicates how many people have joined THROUGH Hyperlobby. Often, it may not indicate how many people are actually 'in'. it seems perhaps the higher the number of players indicated at Hyperlobby tends to increase the chance of players joining who might not otherwise. I will be the first to say that it can be a pita with initial setup and upgrades, but I think the theory is true.

You couldn't be with a better bunch. CFC carried me for years when gubi and I feared FAC would fade completely. Welcome and tell your friends.
