Yup......a very British attempt at catapulting a flying machine.......was Sinclair involved?

Always am amazes me the 'sang-froid' of these early test pilots and pioneers. Often seen to be flying in a suit and tie, with pipe at jaunty angle, right into the jet era.
Interesting to not that the Fairey IIIf has leading edge slats, something I thought first appeared on the 109s.
