What ho, Chuffolites!

Am posting this from my new PC! Here is the sitrep:

IL2 works - huzzah
Freetrack doesn't - boo
TS3 works - huzzah
Steam is giving me the run-around - boo

Will try to sort out freetrack tomozz, and hopefully Valve will get back to me asap so that I can join the CoD-owners Club (not to mention access all the games that I already own...)

In the meantime...Bounder I now have a 460 GTX and would appreciate any insights you may be able to wing my way vis a vis settings for IL2.

Am hoping to be airborne for tomorrow (Thursday)

Great news Ted.....

Below are my current settings in both the NVIDIA control panel and also conf.ini (this is a partial copy editing out anything that is not relevant so you will have to check each line against yours rather than copy the entry below)

There are however several things to consider as our systems are different:-

- I have a dual core Intel 8400E O/C to 3.6gbs but only 3GB of RAM (Windows XP). You will notice in both the NVIDIA control panel and conf.ini (Process affinity) that I use multithreading although there is some difference of opinion about it. Point is, my two CPU's run at about 50% capacity on each core with these settings so that is why I use this setup.

- I am using the latest NVIDIA driver 270.61 (seems pretty good and no need to clean install...you just overwrite now). Due to the different exe files for different installations, I use the NVIDIA settings below in the picture in "Global" rather than specific to the IL-2 exe.

- You may be able to bump up your supersampling on your system.....I get a good 60FPS (Vertical sync "ON" with the Channel map except for crossing a coastline when it drops to 30FPS briefly before coming back up.

- You will see that I use TexComp in the conf.ini. This is only for the Channel map and with the new 512 textures due out in UP3.0 these settings can be changed back to normal.

- You could certainly try these settings as a start and see how you go

Let me know how you get on.

Bounder ;D
