Ah yes, I remember it well.   I was 12 at the time living in the outer suburbs of Sydney and recall the excitement of it all but was somewhat miffed and embarrassed  by the farcical attempts by RAAF to shoot it down (miffed and embarrassed because I wanted more than anything else to be a RAAF fighter pilot!).

Luckily the Auster was unarmed, otherwise we might have lost a Wirraway, a Meteor and two Seafurys.  And it's good to see that two Poms came to the rescue of the fine citizens of Sydney.

Why do we bother with flying schools anyway, when the bloody things fly themselves!
