This might look familiar to some:

Have a great weekend chaps!

$7.49 for the very basic package (Battle of Stalingrad Standard Edition) is really an extremely good deal for anyone who didn't dare to try the game yet.

Cheers!

It should be noted though that SMF does not store plain text passwords and it does not use a reversible encryption either.
Passwords are stored in hashed&salted format.
Hashed means it's one-way encryption, you cannot simply "decrypt" a hashed password.
Salted means that so called "rainbow tables" are useless when attempting to guess the matching password for a hash.
What's left is a brute force attack, which works for pretty simple and short passwords, so complexity is the key.
My password generally have both uppercase and lowercase letters, numbers and special characters like "+-#&%$()" etc, and they're at least 10 characters long.
Not that his would make unhashing impossible, but with today's hardware, it would take a little longer than all of us are going to stay on this planet, even if we sum it up.
Nevertheless, of course I don't recycle passwords across sites - this is something I'd generally suggest not to do at all, never ever.

Cheers!

Thanks for taking care of this Fitz.
Seems to be hacker season again.
@work our telephone system has been hacked on the weekend.
After a few thousand international calls, our provider cut the line.
A colleague of mine had a few hundred calls on his list... I consider myself lucky as my phone list is clear.

Cheers!

Concerning CPU speed, at the risk of repeating myself I'd also refer to this list:
https://www.cpubenchmark.net/singleThread.html

Even BoX is still capped by the CPU's single thread performance as it will max out one core, throw 25-50% on another and an occasional poop on a third.
IL-2 1946 is strictly single threaded so in both cases, the single thread CPU performance is what limits you in the long run.
Therefore, any CPU scoring less than 2500 passmark points in the single thread performance chart is essentially pointless.

If you have a capable graphics card that is.

The 1050 (or the Ti for the same effect) can run BoX well (and it's got plenty of power for 1946), but you probably won't be too happy with it in the long run on BoX.
The 2000 series cards are far beyond consideration.
The 1080Ti would have been the perfect match after the 2000 series has been released, however while we saw the card being available for 599 EUR for about two weeks here in germany about a month ago, Nvidia introduced an artificial shortage on GPU chips of that series and now the card is back at 850-900 EUR. Dammit.
That currently makes the 1070Ti/1080 (both have roughly the same performance and price) the perfect choice, even though 450 EUR are easily 100 too much compared to what you should expect if there was no artifical shortage from Nvidia.

Cheers!

Hi Woof,

"Enable Mods" is correct.
You need to enable mods in order to see the SAS Server.
Unfortunately, no other server operator decided to enable mods yet, so with mods enabled you will see the SAS Server only ;)

Concerning the WW1 training mission, please take a closer look at the map.
On the right there's a small WW1 training area, on the left all the WW2 stuff is located.
I have just updated the training mission to version 15 which gives some more hints on the GUI map about what is where.
You only have to click a spawn place first before all the icons become visible - that's a game thing, I cannot change it.

Cheers!

As long as it lets you win the war...
Some colleagues of mine like to sleep in the car park so they can be back in the office after 4 hours of sleep. Still we lost the war, both them and us :P

Back to topic?
Think you'll love this.
It's Rise of Flight, but we could try the same thing now in FC with the Fokker:

My favourite Blooper starts at 2:12 ;D

Thanks Ted.
We're still struggling to get more missions onto the server.
So many things to do and the day has 72 hours only, it's a shame.

Cheers!

As tempting as this offer may be, officially you need to have "Concierge" status in order to be able to buy that pack, which means you need to have put some 1000 $ into the game already.
On the other hand, if you're really eager to spend those 27K, you can always contact the support. Should work, even if you have just spent $999 yet.

Cheers!

And note Skylla's Lumberjack skills at 11:00!

The 109 G14... Well... It's a 109. Not much more to say, just another Luftwhiner coffin :P

The disappointment from BoS's early days is no valid excuse nowadays anymore.
The game has been improved all over the place.
If difficulties in familiarization were an excuse for anything, the Flight Sim Genre would have died after MS Flight Simulator 1.0 and we would not play IL-2 1946 at all.

The only thing that's really a bit tough these days is to get hands on adequate graphics cards, but for the time being, people playing on Full HD (1920x1080) monitors can use anything from an Nvidia GTX 750 card onwards as stop-gap solution until more powerful cards drop their prices again.
That's 75 bucks to spend.
Even P51vsFw190 did that and he's probably not "Mr. Rich" among the bunch of us.

Cheers!
