Star Citizen / Freelancers
June 07, 2014, 11:18:14 AM
I'm having a hard time making a pick... Especially because I don't know how much of the additional equipment can be mounted or dismounted at will. Anyone else thinking about upgrading their freelancer to one of the new variants?

The sensitivity curve for joysticks is off for me too!. The deadzone is too big and sensitivity ramps up too fast after that. Also, there's a lot of functionality not mapped to the HOTAS. However, I agree with Fitz. The basics seems to be just fine and for pre-alpha it's remarkably playable.

Apparently British Pathé published a boatload of previously unseen newsreel video last week. Most of it is about cricket or royalty,  but there's also some much more interesting Footage there! See for yourselves!

Rise of Flight / Re: ROF Sale

I've taken the holiday sale as an oppertunity to finally get the ICE demo upgrade, along with half a dozen other aeroplanes I fancied! I'll see you in France ;)

Hell's bells this game looks amazing! For now I'm perfectly content with just trying out single player quick matches, but if anyone's going out for a sortie in the near future I'd love te come along (although I only have the demo aeroplanes, I hope that's not a problem!)

4.10 offers the ability to save multiple joystick profiles. Because of this, other aircraft are not an issue.

I've always been a fan of Forsyth's short stories, but I had never read (or heared) this one. Thanks for sharing this Palmtree!

Bounder is correct - it'll take some time for the skin (and any markings included with the skin) to show up for everyone.

Skinning / Re: Any Good Skinning Tutorials

Here is a link to video tutorials on M4T.
Simmers Paint Shop has several useful tutorials. It also offers a large amount of resources like templates, decals, fonts and colour palettes.

The main question is: do you want to customise existing skins or templates for personal use or do you want to create new templates from scratch? In the first case, a lot can be achieved by clever use of layers, copying, pasting or removing elements you like or dislike. If you want to create your own work, you'll need to be much more familiar with the functions your editing software offers you. Once you know your tools, trail and error is the name of the game. Do you have a certain goal in mind? I might be able to give some more specific advice if you share it!

Skinning / Re: P-40E Squadron skin

I'll whip something up then. Keep in mind though: customising skins a bit more is no problem at all. Imade a very useful template for the previous batch, pretty much any element can be added or removed with a single mouseclick.
As for the P40: RAF markings on P40's are always tricky due to the shape of the airframe. One of the more elegant solutions I have seen is by applying them like this. Thoughts?

I turned the text into a 'smart object' in Photoshop and spent a few minutes warping and bending until it looked right. If you want, I can whip up a squadron's worth of Mk. V's in less than an hour. The only question is if you want them with or without colour coded wingtips, noseart and/or flashy stripes.
