HAA! HAA! HA! The man takes on 5 SE5s AI in a Dr1 using all sorts of aids in singleplayer and thinks he is Werner Voss! AAAHHHAHA! Best larf I've had on my few visits to that forum.
The thread running off in all directions e.g. missile performance and tactics is pretty funny too.

Rings a bell with me too Ted. In my last squad we had a similar chap who was ex-USAF and knew everything about anything with wings even shouting down a chap who I knew had flown Hunters and Meteors but like many of the real deal kept it quite and didn't bother to comment on FMs etc. in what is really only a game.
Turned out the geezer though in the force had never been anywhere near an operational aircraft than I have. (He had annoyed someone so much that they took the trouble to find out his real service record.)

I'm still VAT registered so that will help!
Busy time at the moment with moving Simon down to accommodation for his placement year working at DSTL Porton, and Jenny up to King's London, clearing my late father-in-law's house up for sale and working with a very traumatised and demanding new Labrador rescue. Maybe get down to it after a week or so.
Your expertise much appreciated.

'prolimatech megahalems'; I had to Google that. I thought you might be sending me up in the tradition of 'go to stores and ask for a long weight, striped paint and some sky-hooks' :)

Thanks very much for the gen Fitz. A good case we have with a newish 850w power unit. Son no.2 says I should be able to build from the list given. Plenty of instructional vids on YT!
What's Overclockers service like now does anybody know? we had terrible problems with lack of communication regarding faulty and missing components, but that was a few years back and I gather they have since sharpened their act somewhat.

Thanks again for help chaps.

P.S. Crickey; haven't SSDs come down in price!

As to your prize Fitz, that'll be the warm glow within generated by the knowledge you have helped an old fart out in his dotage.

Technical support / Upgrade advice please.....
August 20, 2015, 11:53:57 AM
...........despite the drain on this poor pensioner's meagre income by various offspring in further education ('don't worry Daddy, when we qualify we will be able to afford a really nice nursing home for you') and various car problems. (I feel your pain Fitz!) I might be in the position to upgrade my Spectrum ZX to something a bit more able to cope with the newer sims.

I do not feel confident to self-build, so am looking at various rigs on the cottage-industry companies one finds on Ebay or the computer fairs held at the Motorcycle Museum by Excalibur near me.
Are  integrated graphics still a thing to be avoided? I'm looking at max. £600
Any advice would be most appreciated gents! Thank you

That Chinese one looks quite good! I mean what other HOTAS have you seen that has (and I quote) 'according to the personal fond throttle the thrust' eh?

The Thrustmaster I have had good reports of; worth a punt methinks.
Mind you with Fitz's 'mad skillz' he could probably knock kites down with the keyboard and one hand tied behind his back :)

Has both units of your HOTAS gone tits-up Fitz?
My venerable X45 joystick is u/s but i have combined the throttle part with a Cyborg X which cost £20.00 which seems to function quite well if you grease her up well (bit like some old girlfriends really)

Agreed on that Ted regarding gunnery, especially with offset or top wing armament. One feels one has really achieved something if one downs a Hun, especially online! A sense of satisfaction missing somewhat on the SAS server, unless it is one of Conky's prangs of course :)

Various offspring will be returning to their place of studies shortly, so hopefully our meagre bandwith will be mine! All mine!!

Bit miffing that barely half a mile away they have full fibre service. Contemplating digging a wee trench with some long jump leads therein.

Am I being more dense than usual, but I can't find a way to increase the size of the in-game map?
When one is on 'Wargrounds' all indicators are an indecipherable jumble at default scale.

I have .png files of all the Western Front maps on my laptop for basic navigation.

Sorry I just missed you Glue, last night. You were in a previous mission. I could of done with a bit of help as I seemed to have the whole Luftwaffe after my solitary Spitty.

Yes, was good fun (apart from the interruption due to mischievous puppy action) though we both had bad luck colliding with debris! My problem is I get to close too ensure I hit the bugger due to my terrible gunnery. Did you have any luck sorting out the Re-arm, Repair, Refuel facility?

You mentioned the mission we were on was 'too arcade' for you. I agree, and there are certain missions in the cycle I avoid which just seem to have a stately procession of targets across the map taking little aggressive or evasive action. (For example, the FAC Westfront missions)
If you want more of a challenge and can pick your time to play, try any of the BoB or Pacific missions as they come up.
Shame I missed Woof last night.
