I haven't Clodded for an age Conky, but I may well mod up and give it a whirl! :)

And the forthcoming 'Battle of Moscow' has been announced with a whole batch of kites.

It certainly is different, but I'm enjoying it.

With regards to unlocks, I'm about 80% into the second campaign stage and I've got the basic winter skins and weapon unlocks I need (for the AC I fly). Once I have the 132 rockets for the Il2 I'll be happy enough.

I can't seem to get a smooth landing at the moment, but I've stopped wrecking the AC which is something.

Did you play in expert mode Ted?

Tally Ho Gents!

I'm having a bash at the campaign and I'm quite enjoying it.  It's not really clear how/when the extra progression point in each campaign stage work, but who knows the twists and turns of war eh?

There are some general stability issues, where the game just freezes; the sound continues and I can hear the action continuing, but the screen has frozen.  According to windows, the game has stopped responding too. I've experienced this about 4 times over 2 days now, so it's a bit off putting.  Hopefully they'll get it the stability issues sorted out soon.

I have to admit that I've had the game interface up during a lot of the mission, because it's a barren featureless landscape out there and I'm a little rusty so need the compass and GPS.  The early Russian kites aren't over furnished with modern '40's kit either.  Well, that's my excuse!  ;)

Let me know what you think (for those with it of course!)

Only the sim I'm afraid. I'll leave the flaming to the chaps who have the most reliable authentic data and have actually flown and tested all the aircraft in the game, in real life.  ;D

Ted, if there aren't flame wars with regards to the FMs in the next couple of days I'll demand my money back!! :)

Looking to get into it all shortly.

You're right Conky, it's all kicking off and to a large degree I agree with them.  Why enforce the unlocks if you're playing MP or even on QMB?  It's fine in the campaign as passing through the missions and level experience that the missions required makes some sense.

Nail on the head Fitz, It'll scupper many groups that want to use BoS.  I don't think the designers have considered that particular perspective.  Maybe they looking at the wider offline SP market who would welcome the points progression approach(?).

It's still all very beta, so let's see what they decide to do..... :)

I've been working my way through the first missions and they are rather OK.  I keep breaking the kites on landing more often than not, but I'm told they've made thousands of them so not to worry...

IL2: Battle Of Stalingrad / Re: He111 Screen shots

I hope so Ted because the 111's in that clip sequence initially looked if they were trying to DF me. They had 1000kg of bombs on board too.

Not very exciting, but worth posting.  The damage modelling looks pretty standard.

The 777 team landed the latest patch on us over the weekend which contained stability fixes, a new map (still winter) and the spanky-fresh He111-H6.  Have a dabble if you have it.

I've had a limited play and have noticed the additional load on the GC.  Still nice and smooth, but roll on SLI.

Screenies and more in-depth analysis to follow.

Start up a quick mission in a parked 190 and set the auto pilot on and view externally. It's like watching a prima ballerina. The AI can't get the 190 in the sky.  :D

Poot poot!

Gents, be aware that flying in mission builder jobby against multi-crew opponents currently causes CTD's. It's a bug that they're working on.

Gents

The 190 has arrived at Stalingrad.  We managed to get the below secret shots as a couple of examples went on their debut test flights.

If you're going to give it a twirl against them I'd ramp up the experience level to at least Average because the AI isn't really up to much.  I've not tried flying one yet.  Beastly hun crate and all that.

Tally Pootle-ski Blue Dog!

Never a truer word spoken! To be honest I treat any comments that are mustered by the BoS community as a plus in as much that the Devs might take them on board and evaluate their suggestions. I assume that they are comparing the FM's against other sims and AC in BoS.

Personally I just play each AC to the boundaries they offer.  Quite often I have problems because I'm not familiar with the optimum settings for the situation I'm in, especially with these new FM's and controls.
