Tally Ho Gents - Here's the latest from the Eastern Front!

I wasn't able to log on last week for the IL-2 release, but this week I'm able to enjoy it and also the Ju87!

I'll add some screenies in a separate post per AC.  I've just taken them at installed quality, I've not added a Nvidia profile and I've stuck with the 4xAA value in the game.  More to add later.

I've flown the mission where you (in 109) escort some Stukas on the "Lapino" map.  The early-morning sun glancing across the snow does look glorious, and the whole feeling of flight is excellent.

I initially find it hard to adjust from IL2 '46 in terms of stick-movement, but once I remember to scale everything down, I find the flying OK.  Until the landing that is...I had my first concerted go at this today and I think something's wrong.  I generally withold from making FM observations, but in this case I was bouncing poor old Firedrich about 30m into the air at the slightest contact with the tarmac.  I know my approach speed was a tad high at 200kph (couldn't seem to scrub the speed off), but I was making a very shallow approach.  In the end I got bored of bouncing and going around.

Tally ho Ted!

From what I can gather the FM's are still very much WIP. I'm still bouncing a few of the kites on landing but it's getting smoother. It certainly is different to 1946 Ted. With all the WIP and acclimatisation to the game it's hard to say at the stage how different it'll be.

The whole question as to how much each feature or AC facet is complete is quite a hot topic on the forums. I've read that the LaGG FM is 90% complete, but it still oscillates like a top, so I hope not. Hitting a Stuka with any precision is a real effort.

With the introduction of missions with multiple AC some have mentioned the introduction of micro stutters. I think we'll hear more about this as time advances.

Hopefully the next release of code will jump ahead a few percent or we won't get this before next year!  ;D
